The short version: Souvenir does not collect your data. Period.
Your places, memories, photos, trips, tags, and ratings are stored only on your device. Souvenir has no accounts, no sign-up, no server that stores your information, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. We cannot see your map, and neither can anyone else.
If you use “Near me” or “Pin where I am,” your location is read on your device to position the map and sort your places. It is never transmitted to us or stored anywhere outside your device.
Photos you attach are compressed and saved on your device only. Souvenir accesses only the photos you explicitly choose.
To show maps and find places, Souvenir requests data from mapping services: map imagery from Esri, place search from Google Places and OpenStreetMap. When you search, your search text and the map area are sent to these services to return results — the same way any maps app works. These requests do not include your name or any account identifier (Souvenir has none to send).
The Export feature creates a file on your device containing your data, under your control. Souvenir never sees it.
If this policy ever changes, the current version will always be at this address. Questions: max@aovault.net
